Getafe won to get three golden points in the visit to Benito Villamarín. The team pulled out all the stops to win in a match in which the demand was maximum due to the results of the rivals. As if that were not enough, Enes Ünal retired injured after ten minutes of play in an unfortunate action. The blow made our team stronger and they pulled out all the stops in one of the most complicated stadiums in La Liga. Latasa entered the field in place of the Turkish striker, giving an exhibition of commitment throughout the match. The first half passed without clear chances for both sides. Just a couple of approaches and a goal disallowed to Jaime Mata for a previous foul. The match was in full swing heading into the second forty-five minutes.
After the break, Getafe withstood the barrage of chances from Real Betis. David Soria was huge in his goal to prevent the 1-0. Real Betis were getting closer while our team was going through the most complicated minutes. José Bordalás moved the bench, bringing on Juan Iglesias and Luis Milla. Once again, they used their competitiveness to resist the scoreboard. And so it was until the clearest chance came. The midfielder from Madrid, who had just entered the pitch, took a corner that Alderete sent into the net with a magnificent header. The goal sparked joy on the Getafe bench. It relieved the tension of a duel in which there was no other option than victory. The locals played more than a quarter of an hour with one less due to Pezzella's expulsion after a hard kick to Portu. The danger came from the boots of Juanmi and Ayoze. Angileri came on in the final moments to reinforce the defense. Everything was in place to secure a win that could be worth a stay in the league at the end of the season.
